A group of us who met together talked it over and decided to do a fundraising event. With a lot of support and input, it is all falling together.

My grandfather was a miner for some time. Many in the Miami Valley have ties to the coal mine industry and have relatives who worked or are working in the mines in Eastern Kentucky, West Virginia and other places. Many of us care and want to do something to show support.

All of the money brought in will go to the families of the miners who died in the two accidents and to the survivor. It is a group effort, and lots of folks are involved and should be thanked.

President Hinckley kept emphasizing it. It was no light thing in his mind. He wanted us to step it up.

It really hasn't effected us yet.

We're always getting different stories, and lately we've been kept totally in the dark nobody has told us anything.
