A lot of the activity is happening at home and we are really relying on a partnership with parents to get this information out.

The children go home and start correcting their parents and then the parents don't know if it's a blessing or a curse.

In partnership with parents and local government, you never know what you can do. There is a lot going on here (the high school) for kids, but we can't offer everything. We'll never be able to schedule every minute of every student's day.

The idea of having the principal hear it first is because, many times, the grievance is a matter of miscommunication and can be solved at that point.

So we keep working until we find a happy medium.

Odyssey of the Mind is student-driven, and they aren't helped by parents or teachers. If the student wants to make a costume, they have to sew it themselves.
