A lot remains to be done if we are to see a world characterized by solidarity, peace and prosperity. On a day like this, we remember one of our time's greatest advocates for such a world.

The paradox [in Cote d'Ivoire] is that while we have everything ready for the path to peace, we are also ready for the road to crisis.

We were not prepared ... we are under attack, under siege, having to temporarily relocate personnel.

Let each of us lead a revolution of support in the lives of others.

General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!
