A statistician made a few calculations and discovered that since the birth of our nation more lives had been lost in celebrating independence than in winning it.

[A safe Independence Day] would be a good psychological boost, but we need some fundamental news as well,

I will rather b a poor brave man than being a rich coward

Bravery itself is freedom......God bless America

And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

On this day, so full for Americans of thoughts connected with their National Independence, we may not forget that Americans have yet other grounds for gratitude to the people of the Netherlands.
