This is a problem that should have been dealt with when we had the money, and it wasn't.

When I started, we had no money at all, ... We charged what we needed to make our expenses. There was never a reserve or any effort to capitalize on the asset, which is the single most important reason why we struggled all these years.

The commissioners can spend money on juvenile detention but seem to have no consideration when it comes to projects that help keep youngsters out of trouble. I just don't understand how they can charge 4-H groups $35 an hour when these youngsters are doing something so productive for their community.

That was just like finding money on the street, really, because they were so easy to sell. People would take the papers right out of your hands, it seemed, ... It was always encouraging to have a quick sell of your newspapers.

Some of the people that are currently getting services might not receive services. Or, it could mean that new programming that would've been more helpful won't be funded.
