Alison will be a huge asset to the center, having several years experience in teaching and curriculum development, and organizing events for large and small groups at her last position.

Much of the teaching strategies are now geared to make sure we write across the curriculum, in every class.

It still amazes me that we insist on teaching algebra to all students when only about 20 percent will ever use it and fail to teach anything about parenting when the vast majority of our students will become parents.

Our emphasis will be that all the classes will be taught with an arts-integrated curriculum so we can use that as an innovative tool of teaching and hopefully reach students that way.

Mac has been with the Discovery Center since it opened, and he will be greatly missed. The good news is that he will continue helping as one of our newest volunteers.

Given his experience with mergers there is a lot of speculation that he will go in there and do a big deal, ... but we're a bit skeptical of that.
