And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint: / And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

Esau selleth his birthright for a mess of pottage.

As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughers of Canaan; / And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram; / And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father; / Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock, / And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father hath been with me.
