As attorney general, I've had some connection with just about every important public issue in the last eight years in Kentucky. All of the important public issues of the day have, at some point.

That would be something,

I know some of the guys I play against, they say some things, ... I've just got to approach it like there's a bull's-eye on my chest and people are going to be watching me. I've got to play as hard as I can.

I can either side with what I think is right as far as corruption is concerned, or I can wipe it under the rug. The nature of this job is you either make people mad as a result of events and investigations, or you make them happy by sugar-coating it and sweeping it under the rug. And I chose not to go that route.

When I finished my term, I thought about running for governor then but decided not to because, frankly, I didn't think I was ready. I wasn't comfortable that I was prepared to do the job.

As attorney general, I can either look into it or I can ignore it because they're a bunch of powerful legislators... and I'm afraid they're going to cut my budget.
