As useful as it may be, in the end, I don't think technology can ever fully express what people are feeling in their hearts.

When anyone advocates a new technology, people [with existing spectrum] are against it. It's the position you take if you are a spectrum manager.

Alta Vista will be okay. It's a brand name, people recognize it and CMGI can group its technology offerings together and really provide Alta Vista a boost.

The big advantage is that for all the people wondering if someone is really interested, there's finally some proof one way or another. You don't have to rely on a hunch, or continue wasting time if you're in denial, which is a common scenario, ... On the flip side, it could create a generation of actors who know that their conversations are being interpreted, and therefore are less inclined to be genuine.

It's a condition of the need for revenue and the evolution of technology. Even at the national level, people will tell you it's a long-term solution.
