At first, we need to house survivors in non-residential housing, we need rental properties, or empty apartments.

We are basically kind of in limbo, because we may have to be out of our rental home in a month or so, and we have this to come home to, and there's nothing here.

It's not that we're trying to fill the town with seniors. It's helping to balance our residential housing. Over the last five years, we've had a loss of seniors. As people retired and taxes increased for schools, they moved away. We've started to see an increase, but it's not keeping pace with a lot of family subdivisions going up.

Over the past five years we have demolished several derelict properties and renovated seven houses and two apartments.

What this has done, it has redistributed the tax burden. From one residence to another, and from residential to non-residential. Like it or not, that's what it's done.

The way it will likely play out is, they'll start with (rebuilding) infrastructure, to non-residential and then residential.
