Baseball plays out like an opera,

Opera in English is, in the main, just about as sensible as baseball in Italian.

We were born with baseball in our blood. It's more than just a sport. It's a passion. It's an opera. It's just a way of being. It's almost like breathing.

Baseball is a soap opera that plays out day after day, one that a lot of elderly women watch until the characters and the plot becomes a part of their life. She got to enjoy the personal side of the players. They were her kids. The Braves were her family.

We are determined to bring a new audience to opera. If we don't, then I'm afraid the form will wither and die.

It feels sore and a little weak. Nothing since I've ever played baseball have I taken one swing and halted activity after a swing. Ever. Unless a guy hit me with a pitch in the hand or the face or whatever.
