Bernie is a great leader. He's a really vocal guy and really intense and you can see that in the huddle. You know he's going to go out there and lay it on the line for you, and you've got to do the same for him.

He's always played like a leader out there on the field. But he's more vocal before we go out there, right before the games. He speaks up and kind of fires guys up.

But you never realize really what it's like until you're actually out there in the spotlight,

It's just Joey being Joey. I'm surprised he lasted this long (without popping off). He's the vocal leader of our football team and that's the way he is.

Grant is a very smart and vocal player, and I expect him to step up and be the leader of that group. Bolstad has been on varsity a couple years now and he is a terrific player, and Brickl is on the rise towards that as well.

He was our vocal leader. Now it falls to the rest of us seniors to be leaders. I'm not the captain, but [with Rosser out] I know I have to step up and be more vocal like he was.
