i think of all the thousands of billions of steps and missteps and chances and coincidences that have brought me here. Brought you here, and it feels like the biggest miracle in the world.

Someday all the wilds will be razed, and we will be left with a concrete landscape, a land of pretty houses and trim gardens and planned parks and forests, and a world that works as smoothly as a clock, neatly wound: a world of metal and gears, and people going tick-tick-tick to their deaths.

Dwelling in the past instead of looking towards the future is like taking several steps backwards instead of forward. You never advance in life.

I don't want to take one step forward and two steps backward.

I hope that maybe it just gets them to think there are cops out there and they are going to be cracking down more on drunk driving.
