By making transportation more convenient for our parents by reducing the threshold from a mile to three-quarters of a mile, we believe that it will be an incentive for families to stay within Cincinnati Public Schools and maybe even return to Cincinnati Public Schools from charter schools.

[Parents can't get enough of the report cards.] In previous years at the State Fair, ... the department had kids throw beanbag frogs into holes. Last year, we printed out 5,000 school report cards instead. Parents would come up and say, 'I'm thinking of moving, or using open enrollment. Can you print out a report card for this neighborhood school, and the schools close to it?' What a change!

We have parents who cart our kids everywhere and they're very happy to do it but it does seem wasteful for these people to have to travel that far when they could go right across town here and play.

If your parents think ? or you've persuaded them ? that you're mature enough, then be mature enough.

The parents have worked so hard. They brought this all together. They have been absolutely incredible.

That's often the hardest thing for the parents to learn is that they must go so slow. I sometimes describe it as excruciatingly slow for the parent because we live in a very fast-paced world.
