California can be a model for the nation (in a) technological revolution that will benefit the economy and the environment.

Our plan for the Commonwealth will promote a quality environment and dynamic economy. We propose tax credits and other new investments in clean energy, environmental programs and revitalized cities and towns, which will lead to new jobs and new economic growth. We also propose measures that will save the Commonwealth money through the elimination of wasteful and often counterproductive programs and projects.

Smart energy policies will be a boon for Michigan's economy and its consumers and the environment. That's why we are advocating for smart energy policies here in the state. The first smart step begins with a concerted investment in energy policies.

This dovetails nicely because the goals put forward by the California Climate Action Team are consistent with the goals of the California Clean Energy Initiative. Our measure provides the state a funding mechanism to make those goals a reality.

That's an easy scare tactic for the oil companies to use against consumers.
