Carnival is such an integral part of New Orleans that it bounces back from every catastrophe it always has.

Something as important as Carnival will be a genuine tonic, a balm to the soul of the people here. We deserve the frivolity, given all the rest of what we have to put up with.

Carnival has nothing at stake here and therefore has no downside, ... We, on the other hand, have a valuable transaction that could be put at risk.

There is a private side to Carnival. It started as an event that we did for ourselves and it still is. The economic side is monumental and it's good for the city. But we chose to do this for us.

I kind of like things slightly out of tune. It makes me feel... intoxicated almost... but in a good way. Like I'm at a carnival in a dream. Not sure that makes sense, but I do have pretty good pitch recognition. I see colors for different key signatures, notes, etc.

There is no prettier fall then carnival
