Certainly,the Crown Vic is a very safe car. The safety record of the car is among the best in the industry.

We stand behind the safety of our products, and we wanted to get that out to consumers.

The bottom line is that we have serious public-safety needs on our streets that are not being met. This very modest increase in the motor-vehicle tax could help us meet those needs.

We expect it will earn higher side-impact test ratings with that standard equipment.

We do expect better scores on both of these measures.
