Christian Guzman is the shortstop here. The way he plays here in spring training determines whether we make the switch from him to Royce Clayton or someone else to open the season.

There's a lot of camaraderie on this ball club already. In spring training it's been a good clubhouse. Believing in themselves and playing with excitement, I think that all comes from winning. I think this team has that ability to do that, to come together as a team.

Coming to spring training and filling three spots in your starting rotation is not good. I don't care how you look at it.

I'm sure I'll butcher some plays in spring training. I've got to go out and screw up and get used to playing the outfield again. That's the only way I can get back to normal.

Brooks never impressed me because you were accustomed to him making the plays. This kid reminds me a lot of Brooks on those plays. Brooks owned those things. Brooks was very good on those slow rollers coming in.

To me, anybody who plays this game who's not injured can give you 100 percent. Now, maybe your 100 percent may be different than my 100 percent. But you can run hard, run the best you possibly can . . .
