Da used to say that lies were easy, but trust was hard. Trust is like faith: it can turn people into believers, but every time it's lost, trust becomes harder and harder to win back.

Doubt is like a current you have to swim against, one that saps your strength.

There can be no doubt that distrust of words is less harmful than unwarranted trust in them. Besides, to distrust words, and indict them for the horrors that might slumber unobtrusively within them - isn't this, after all, the true vocation of the intellectual?

I feel there's a lot of distrust throughout the town, and I think I can bring trust back between the citizens and the board. We sure had it before, and I'd like to get it back. I don't like all these faction groups.

In the digital domain trust is now important not only because we really need to know how to trust people and whom to trust but because we need others to trust us and have to learn how to help them do so.
