Derivatives cannot hedge derivatives for accounting purposes -- now or under FASB 133, ... Does Dave [Duncan] think his accounting works even under FASB 133? No way.

In my opinion, and I think Dave [Duncan, pitching coach] shares this, if we had Al Reyes healthy, then I think Jason would pitch Game 4 just because of the success he's had against Houston -- especially in that ballpark. But we don't have him healthy. And [Marquis] is a force that we think will help us out of the 'pen in a lot of games in an area where we may be a little vulnerable.

I think Sidney is a perfect example of the type of pitcher that we feel Dave Duncan can help get better and bring him to the next level.

Duncan is still here and wants to have a think about things over the next few weeks. He has had a better week's training this week and he might feel a little bit better. Duncan is an old enough professional to know his body and we will see how he is after the next week or so.

When Duncan did arrive a half hour later, I hugged him and didn't let go. He seemed a little embarrassed to be receiving such a public display of affection. After all, he did try his very best to barbeque me once. But that didn't matter now.

I'd go out with Duncan if I was a girl.
