Design can never be an ultimate explanation for anything. It can only be a proximate explanation. A plane or a car is explained by a designer but that's because the designer himself, the engineer, is explained by natural selection.

Natural selection is anything but random.

But the very fact that Darwinism is true makes it even more important for us to fight against the naturally selfish and exploitative tendencies of nature.We can do it.Probably no other species of animal or plant can. We can do it because our brains (admittedly given to us by natural selection for reasons pf short-term Darwinian gain) are big enough to see into the future and plot long-term consequences.

Natural selection will not remove ignorance from future generations.

As Darwin himself was at pains to point out, natural selection is all about differential survival within species, not between them.

Things exist either because they have recently come into existence or because they have qualities that made them unlikely to be destroyed in the past.
