Don't do or say things you would not like to see on the front page of The Washington Post.

Saying the Washington Post is just a newspaper is like saying Rasputin was just a country priest.

I tell the kids that, even in a childhood marked by despair and deprivation, I knew that no matter what happened, I still had my family, or at least the remnants of a family ripped apart by divorce and then glued back together in various odd arrangements through a series of ill- advised remarriages. It was good to know I had a solid foundation.

I think the editorial page of the Washington Post is the best in the country. I think the editorials - considering it's a liberal town, liberal constituency and from the liberal tradition - I think it's the best editorial page around. It's quite balanced.

You've just got to go with what's in front of you. That's why you all should turn the page on me. You guys keep bringing back old crap. Just turn the page, move on.

Everything is a narrative in life. I learned that early on as a reporter at the 'Washington Post.'
