Even though it may seem like there have been gains in Iraq's power supply, those gains are not reliable.

My hopes for this fast are simply that many conversations will be sparked and that people will stop and think for a moment about how their actions affect such crucial elements of Iraqis' daily life. When I tell friends, family and acquaintances that I will be participating in an electricity fast they are often dumbfounded as to how that is possible. This is exactly the response that I hope to challenge; to show others that what we see as difficult or nearly impossible is the reality for many people.

We are very committed to getting rid of the South Bay Power Plant. It is causing risks to human health and devastating to the bay.

I think men are lost right now. They don't know what their role is. Women have had power through the ages, and men are afraid of it. Women have gone through a tremendous amount of pain to give their gifts to the world. Religion has become a small fence around a great and glorious idea.

Kids really have a lot more power than they think they have. They have the power to change the world. And they should know it.

Women seem not to understand, or underestimate, the profound power they have over their husbands.
