Family life was and always will be the foundation of any civilization. Destroy the family and you destroy the country.

It's a comment on our society, on the fragmentation of American family life. We have to bear that this is happening in America, where there is freedom of choice. These women are not converting in order to go and live in Saudi Arabia. We also don't know how permanent these conversions are in a country where people convert two or three times in their lives.

Historically, in Chinese society, a woman's place in the family was never secure. In her own home, she was seen as marginal to the family since a son carried on the family name and contributed more to the family's livelihood. It was expected that girls would eventually be taken away to join their husbands' families after they were married.

And opening my eyes I am afraid of course
to look--this inward look that society scorns--
Still I search in these woods and find nothing worse
than myself, caught between the grapes and the thorns.

A family that has internet access stays connected!
