Farmers don't like being told what to do. It was a volunteer program and should have stayed volunteer. I was doing it long before it was mandatory.

The program is tailored to the volunteer and what they want to do. They pick and choose what they want to do. We get the volunteers out to learn their lake and share their data with others.

[Joining the Honors Program] is something you volunteer to do…it's just like joining a club…you don't get distinguished on your diploma for joining a club.

That's why the group of volunteers from the senior volunteer program, who've done a lot of study, can really guide you through the program without any bias.

What I've told the guys is that there's some uncertainty here -- about the program, about the coach, about a lot of things. They don't know how everything is going to turn out, so it only makes sense for them to explore their options a little bit.

We're always looking for volunteers. It's a high volunteer intensity program. Each child has three volunteers.
