Finally we can say that there's a link between the extreme rigidity of the labor code and high unemployment.

It is clear to everybody that France needs reform. Our unemployment is too high, particularly among the young, but employers fear that once people are taken on staff it becomes very difficult and expensive to lay them off in a downturn, so we need labor market flexibility.

The downward trend in unemployment rates for metro areas throughout our state continues to indicate an improving labor market.

With a shrinking labor pool and a lower unemployment rate, employers are going to have to find ways to train people who are unemployed to fill the jobs that are available.

With little movement in Ohio's labor market from January to February, the state's unemployment rate was unchanged. We still question whether the dramatic decline in the calculated rate from December to January is fully supported by actual conditions.

The survey results combined with the drop in the unemployment rate indicate that the traditional labor supply is essentially exhausted.
