Football has something to learn from cricket: respect for officials, for each other as professionals and for the opponents.

I am not pleased at all with whatever has happened. Having played cricket with respect and distinction, I don't deserve this at the fag end of my career.

Cricket is just following the same trend as football and rugby. You do see world-class players becoming world-class coaches because they have all that first-hand knowledge. But then there are other coaches who have spent less time playing and more developing interpersonal skills. The saying goes that good coaches coach technique, great ones coach people.

It means a lot to me because I respect the guy so much. He's a great football player, a great man.
