For consumers, it's nice to get a bunch of CDs at a discount, but at the same time you may end up giving that back on the back end if you miss a few 'forced buys'. That's the whole idea. It's a lot easier for these companies to have members who automatically owe them money, which puts the burden on [the consumer] to decline.
