For me, the best time of the year is the start of the second semester. They sit in the mess desk and catch up with one another. They have amazing stories to tell.

No matter what profession you're in, there are boxes to check. For mariners, one has to be crossing the Atlantic. That's a life check.

We kind of slept on them down there. We can't afford to do that this time around; their record speaks for itself. We didn't have a chance down there.
