For unknown reasons she pulled into the path of of a semi-tractor-trailer and was struck and it spun her vehicle around and the vehicle was then hit by a second semi-tractor-trailer,

The tractor trailer struck the van in the drivers side. Unfortunately the driver was killed on the scene from the impact.

When I pulled it out he spun around and bit me and I let go of him real fast.

[The van] couldn't avoid hitting the tractor-trailer, ... Their brakes locked up.

That reduces you're capacity down to 24 vehicles. On a normal trip with no tractor trailer you can take around 32. Sometimes you're still going to have the problem with up there and not getting on. If there's tractor trailer traffic your chances of getting on are reduced somewhat.

The reasons for why this patient woke up are still unknown.
