Form no covetous desire, so that the demon of greediness may not deceive thee, and the treasure of the world may not be tasteless to thee.

Much wants more and loses all.

And greed will breed harshness and cruelty.
And wealth is a maze to confuse.
Once a person is warm and well-suppered,
how much of such wealth can they use?

Greedy people are never satisfied that they have enough. They’re like sharks that spend their entire life hunting and consuming. All the oceans in the world can’t satisfy these eating machines.

Thou shouldst not become presumptuous through much treasure and wealth; for in the end it is necessary for thee to leave all.

The source of evil is desire, greed, and anger.
