The negative attitudes toward the genres - romance, science-fiction, westerns, suspense, etc. - are fallout from the academic world's long-standing fascination with existential philosophy and modern theories of psychology and sociology.

Our enemies make us strong, Miss Muffet, not our friends. Our friends will lie to us, tell us what we need to hear. Forgive us. We must keep a few good enemies on hand, always, to keep us sharp and teach us never to do anything that needs forgiveness.

Not all things have to be scrutinized, nor all friends tested, not all enemies exposed and denounced

David and I are good friends, so it should be nice out there tomorrow. This is a strong field, so it would be a great win if I can get it - but any one of four or five players, if they get hot, still has a chance.
