Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice

I want to say somewhere: I've tried to be forgiving. And yet. There were times in my life, whole years, when anger got the better of me. Ugliness turned me inside out. There was a certain satisfaction in bitterness. I courted it. It was standing outside, and I invited it in.

For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.

The fiercest anger of all, the most incurable,
Is that which rages in the place of dearest love.

Bitterness: anger that forgot where it came from.
