Government is not being honest with taxpayers when it renews existing tax breaks and calls them new tax cuts.

I would support eliminating certain tax breaks that are not economically justifiable if they are offset with reductions in tax rates.

A lot of Americans think they got a tax cut, and they didn't because their local property tax went up, their excise tax went up, their sales tax went up, and their prices went up and everything else, because we failed to invest in some of these other things we ought to be doing. ... We need to have tax relief for those who really need tax relief. The concept of tax cuts is fine, but we want it targeted.
