It's a really neat and special coincidence, but it's nothing but a coincidence. This wasn't set up to give Matt that honor. It's just the way it worked out. It's a neat extra.

Matt is a very special player. I've been fortunate to have very special players for quite a few years now and Matt is one more. Matt doesn't need much coaching. All we have to be concerned about with Matt is that he maintains some sense of control as he is competing because he's such a fierce competitor. He'll do anything to win, he's just an awful nice kid to coach.

That would be special, knowing how long we've been together, how many different things he has taught me to become the man that I am, and how to better myself on the football field and understanding the leadership of a quarterback, and different roles you have to do as a quarterback.

After Matt and David and Peep left, we decided we were always going to have to stick together. It was going to be about us, it was about the team, it wasn't about one unique player.
