He goes ?Chef, I won first place?. I was screaming, I was just so proud of him.

It?s really neat to see a student do something he really, really loves and have national recognition for it. Everybody at the school wanted to know how he did and everyone was supporting him.

I keep teasing him that someday I?m going to see him on Food Network. He?s very focused, very talented and has a real good sense of taste.

He?s got a rare combination of interest, curiosity and talent. And humility.

I'm still stunned (that I won the race). I'm really proud of how I did. I was hurting in that last 100 yards but no guts, no glory. This is the first time I've ever swum the 400 (individual medley) in a major meet.

The game is not lost - or won - until the last bell goes.
