He's someone we don't want to rush, obviously. If we have the slightest apprehension about getting him out there ... it's a long season, and if he has to miss a week or something like that, it's something we can do.

We've seen a lot of good things out of Lance this year. Obviously, recently in the last month, he hasn't been as good, but he was a savior for us there for a while. So it would be nice to be able to give him some confidence, a few outings where he feels confident again and get him back out there where we can use him later in a game, too.

Obviously, there is some apprehension there because they've never umpired at the professional level. There are some rule differences, but they have to call balls and strikes and call guys out that are out. We just have to go with what we got.

He is similar to Tony [Clark], who has learned this [reserve] role. Being a bench player isn't easy to do, and the quicker they accept it and fine a routine that works for them, these are the guys that are the most successful.

We just kept battling. We were so many times in a situation, say, where we had first and third with nobody out and we don't score and throw the momentum back to the other side. But we kept playing hard.
