He's the Texas League champion. The first part of the season he was trying to kill everything because he's a big, strong kid. I told him to just try and put the ball in play and see what happens and he and Nick Cook have done a wonderful job for us in right field.

The first quarter we played extremely well. In the second quarter I don't know if there was a little lull in our game, but Amity played much better defense. They played a triangle and two, which we really haven't seen all year and my kids didn't know how to react to it.

Amity is a much-improved team. They kept battling the whole game.

We just didn't boot the ball as many times. We settled down a bit after that third inning.

Playing Western Mennonite at our place is an advantage. They're a good basketball team. But we'll be in friendly confines and I think we can compete with them. Everybody has a shot on any given night and if we want to get to Pendleton, we've got to win two games to get there.

I thought we got lucky. Amity's playing a lot better. When you're a ranked team everybody comes after you and that's what Amity did. We were lucky to keep enough composure to get out of here with a win.
