Hiking for me, is like going to a birthday party, they save the best for last, which is the treats and the cake. Well, the hike is the fun part, but the summit is the treat, the view is the icing on the cake.

We continually court Mother Nature because of her beauty, she leaves us a lasting impression, therefore, treat her right and be good to her.

It's the adventure, the adrenaline-flowing, risk-taking in outdoor activities that attracts me.

The island is a one-stop shop for wilderness and outdoor adventure. You can get your feet dirty by day and be pampered at night.

Within minutes my 115-mile walk through the desert hills becomes a thing apart, a disjunct reality on the far side of a bottomless abyss, immediately beyond physical recollection.

But it’s all still there in my heart and soul. The walk, the hills, the sky, the solitary pain and pleasure—they will grow larger, sweeter, lovelier in the days to come, like a treasure found and then, voluntarily, surrendered. Returned to the mountains with my blessing. It leaves a golden glowing on the mind.

A crude meal, no doubt, but the best of all sauces is hunger.
