His dad can't wait to see him, he's so proud of him.

My dad once told me life would get complicated when I grew up. I’m guessing this isn’t what he meant. My mom, on the other hand, agreed with him, and I’m guessing this kind of thing is exactly what she meant.

I'm especially outraged they didn't even wait until the deadline, ... I'm just so disappointed. I understand that in the whole scheme of things, it's just a sidewalk, but it's still something that's important to residents.

[The waves] move across a faint horizon, the rush of love and the surge of grief, the respite of peace and then fear again, the heart that beats and then lies still, the rise and fall and rise and fall of all of it, the incoming and the outgoing, the infinite procession of life. And the ocean wraps the earth, a reminder. The mysteries come forward in waves.

It may have been a dying mill town, but everything goes down. And then there's only one way to go, and it comes up.

I love my dad, and I'm proud to be his daughter.
