I can tell you that he did turn away from some (legal) recommendations because he just thought they would be too divisive and they might take too long.

I thought that Gov. Bush's attack on Al Gore, his character and credibility, was very unfair and not what the campaign should be about. In moments of desperation, Gov. Bush turned back to attack President Clinton. His name is not on the ballot, its Al Gore and me against George Bush and Dick Cheney.

Today, we can see with our own eyes what global warming is doing. In that context it becomes truly irresponsible, if not immoral, for us not to do something.

He agreed that it is the unusual case in which a prevailing Supreme Court precedent would be overturned. He basically said _ I want to be careful about this, not putting words in his mouth _ that Roe was precedent on which people, a lot of people relied, that it had been precedent for decades and therefore deserves great respect.

Global warming is not a conqueror to kneel before - but a challenge to rise to. A challenge we must rise to.
