I can think of no one more deserving of this year's SAG Life Achievement award than Shirley Temple Black,

She has lived the most remarkable life, as the brilliant performer the world came to know when she was just a child, to the dedicated public servant who has served her country both at home and abroad for 30 years.

My whole life, my mother told me I would have SAG to fall back on. When I see a woman in her mid-40s or mid-50s working, I know it makes things better for me.

My mother, whom I love dearly, has continually revised my life story within the context of a complicated family history that includes more than the usual share of divorce, step-children, dysfunction, and obfuscation. I've spent most of my adult life attempting to deconstruct that history and separate fact from fiction.

He made a bet. I think he was successful. That was a remarkable achievement.

There is no great achievement that is not the result of patient working and waiting.
