I didn't know I was close until Rick Cerone (public relations) told me in Tampa earlier this week. When I got the hit today I wanted to get the ball, but the fan wouldn't help me out.

Rick came to me this week and told me of his situation,

He got around to everyone during the week and that's when he told me anyway and he went around to everyone individually and spoke to everyone.

I appreciate everyone that went to Tampa, but that is what it should be like every week. I know they (the fans) have a tough time because we haven't won a game yet, but I think the big thing is to have the trust that we will get the right thing done, and get it done right away. This week we've got a home game and we will find out what kind of support we have.

I'm happy when they told me I had been traded to the Mets. I think this team has a lot of opportunities for me.

Win or lose Friday, he's shown that nothing really fazes him, ... That's why he's in the rotation. The way he conducts himself and goes about his business, it's good to see. We're confident in him.
