I don't think even conservatives believe the court is ready to overturn Roe v. Wade.

We now have five Catholics on the Supreme Court. Must they vote to overturn Roe v. Wade?

It would be very difficult ... for me to vote to confirm someone whom I knew would overturn Roe v. Wade, because I remember ... what it was like when abortion was illegal in America ... As a college student at Stanford, I watched the passing of the plate to collect money so a young woman could go to Tijuana for a back-alley abortion. I knew a woman who killed herself because she was pregnant.

Anybody who would read this letter from 20 years ago as an indication that he would overturn Roe v. Wade is jumping to conclusions,

I think it is inappropriate to ask him head-on if he's going to overturn Roe, but I believe that there are many issues close to the issue, like his respect for precedent, ... Meet the Press.
