I feel connected to those kids and offered whatever help I could so they can hopefully find a good situation just like I did.

They were really sweet kids. And they deserve to have a home.

I didn't have to [start playing again]. But I did it with the benefit of trying to help an organization to get back on their feet. And the gratitude that was given? It was 'your service is no longer wanted or needed.' So I felt like I was used in a sense.

This is my livelihood, ... And with no help from the city...it's been hell.

When we were asked to go down there and help, the city only had four hours to make a decision, ... They said at the time that they couldn't send the men or the truck because of budget constraints and I respect that decision.

These guys are a great bunch of kids who were fun to coach. I have been so lucky since I have been here to coach great kids. And our seniors have had a great run. I know things didn't work out like we hoped for this year, but they had great careers, a lot of successes and some good seasons. They can hold their heads high because they gave it everything they had.
