I got into sports, thankfully, because I didn't listen to my mother.

We moved to a town that's predominately Caucasian, some Hispanic and one or two black families, and they do shrimping for a living. Here come hundreds of Vietnamese doing the same occupation. So there was a lot of tension because people were saying we were taking money, shrimp, fish or whatever it is.

You have to compete every time you walk on the field. You want to get better, no matter how long you have played. I don't care how many years you play, the game of football you always have to be learning.

It was weird at first. It's part of business and, unfortunately, that's how it is. Our friendship is always going to be there. I have a lot of friends who are not here any more.

He's a great guy and he's been a great mentor for me. I looked up at him when I was a college player and he has helped me to be a better player.
