I grew up celebrating the holidays with cousins, aunts and uncles. And I wanted that for my kids even though we don't have family in South Florida.

We don't ask the kids to dress up. We'd rather have them with us than to have to fight with them to put on fancy clothes.

What is your fondest memory of a holiday? We don't want the kids just eating and watching television.

They were our family away from Alabama. We spent all our holidays together and celebrations of our kids.

It's related in that it's school holidays and kids are not in school. Be it high school or college or middle school. Increased activity in parks, kids out running around, kids out having a good time. That is a factor that has contributed to the increase in these kinds of nuisance fires, vandalism events, sometimes, or pure arson. You always see an increase in activity this time of year.

If we're going to teach it to all kids -- kids who might not naturally be abstract learners -- we need a variety of teaching methods.
