I had never thought much of Rutgers; I was going to go to Northwestern, Pittsburgh or Wake Forest. My high school coach had to talk me into [attending].

That one surprised me, Every defensive lineman wants to run pass routes. I think it went very well.

Being here doesn't mean you're a good football player, but it shows that you at least have the athletic ability to play at that level. Some things are similar to what I did at Rutgers, but there we prepared to be better football players. Here we're preparing to be better test-takers.

He played at the highest level and he taught me the way the game was supposed to be played. The game was never forced on me. But I wanted to be just like Dad. Guys from the Giants were always around. Phil Simms lived close by. He was over the house a lot and I used to always go to his son Chris' birthday parties. I used to go to the all games but I don't remember them. I was only 3 when he retired.

I think it has to be that way every week, no matter who you play. Obviously you have to prepare for different things that different teams bring to the table, but if you can't handle your own assignments on each play, then you're going to have problems.
