I have always voted every time I could get to the polls. I failed in that regard.

I'm board-certified in juvenile law. The county judge sits as chairman of the juvenile board, so I can be a benefit in that regard. As a lawyer, I can better understand the contracts and legal issues that come before the Commissioners Court. There are probate matters, guardianships, and mental health commitments. Those encompass at least a day or two in court (per week).

I'll focus on being more responsive and accountable for all the citizens of Smith County.

I believe the employees should be paid for the job they do. We have budget constraints, but I am for treating the employees fairly and giving them the benefits they deserve.

We have raised a substantial amount ourselves and of course these races are expensive. We are going to keep doing what we are doing and we feel comfortable with the level of involvement that we have.

I've talked to experts in the field, people that are experts in design of jails, experts in construction and experts in operation of the jail and it can be cost effective downtown.
