I have evaluated the basketball program thoroughly and discussed it with Louis. As a result, we could not agree on critical issues related to the management of the program.

The decision was made after I had a very professional meeting with Louis on Tuesday, when we brought him in to review the season. Following the meeting, we decided not to offer him an extension, that the program had issues we needed to deal with as we move forward in the new Big East Conference. After the meeting, I got a sense of where we stood and there were things we couldn't agree on.

To identify one reason would be unfair to Louis. It's not a matter of wins and losses. There were problematic things throughout the entire program. This is not an indication of how I feel about Louis Orr. There is not a finer, more genuine and honest man than Louis Orr. I have a lot of respect for him.

We now begin the search for a new coach. My focus will be to attract candidates who share our vision and can position Seton Hall basketball to achieve consistent success in the nation's best conference.

I did not come in with preconceived notions when I came here. We went in to review what happened this season. Following the meeting, I made the decision we would not offer an extension.
